Charity is not sustainable. It requires continuous donations from various sources and lots of resources to obtain these donations. Why do we continue to engage in something so inefficient and unsustainable?
Charity enables the donor opportunity to flex their charitable acts and leaves the recipients with little dignity, dependent on that meagre donation. Why do we encourage such flagrant displays of incongruity and gloating?
Perhaps charity should take the form of providing work to the recipients so they can have the dignity to help themselves and earn a living for themselves.
Perhaps Universal Basic Income could solve this.
